Special Features

We provide delicious home cooked meals (approved by dietician) with all diets catered for. Our residents love their meals and we receive compliments on our catering from visitors and family.

Kimberley would like to maintain this tradition and continue to provide high quality meals.

We have appropriate staffing across all level of care. Our staff have required qualification/certification, including an activity programme offering both individual and group activities.

We have a vehicle for residents Outings supported by a dedicated Activities Coordinator.

Kimberley values and respects individual needs and lives of the residents and takes feedback seriously. We continue to work hard to meet the needs of the residents and improve the services.

Activities

Kimberley organises Outings for Residents, this includes meeting with senior groups, families, friends and other community organisations on a regular basis. Our goal is to encourage residents to maintain their relationships with their nearest and dearest and help them with things that interest them.

We have a Van for residents Outings supported by a dedicated Activities Coordinator who offers following services on a regular basis:

Entertainment (Movies, Videos, Audio, Documentaries etc.) quizzes, ball games, bowls, exercises, crafts, housie, trips out, board games, shopping expeditions and visiting musicians - piano and organ music, newspaper reading, Church services monthly and ability to go to own church services

What is Rest Home Care?

Rest Home Care is where elderly people live in a Rest Home on a long-term basis, requiring low level of care. This involves assistance for taking a shower and providing of meals, assisting with medication etc.

What is Respite Care?

Respite Care is designed to provide short-term breaks for the carers of a disabled person, while also providing a positive, stimulating and worthwhile experience for the disabled person.

What is Day Care / Carer Support?

Many rest homes will accept a day stay residents on an informal basis. This service offers the carer/support person a break,usually for a day or two.

What is Daily Care fee?

Daily Care fee covers the residential care services we are contracted to provide by the District Health Board (DHB). The fee is set annually by the DHB for aged care facilities within the region, this covers the cost, including:

Meals/Food Services
Laundry Services
Nursing Care and other care
GP Visits
All Healthcare prescribed by GP
Prescribed Medication (Pharmac approved only)

Transport to Health Service

Where do I start or what are the steps involved?

You will first need to complete a Residential Care Needs Assessment. You can either ask your GP for a referral to NASC needs assessor, or you can request an assessment directly from your DHB.
You will need to appoint an Enduring Power of Attorney for Personal Care. These are legal documents that give another person of your choice the power to make decisions on your behalf if the need arises.
If you wish to apply for a Residential Care Subsidy, you need to call WINZ on 0800 999 727 for advice about eligibility. They will assess your financial situation and make the decision.
